Discover Young Learners

Brad Hall, with his wife Andrea, served as Mission President for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Mexico City Northwest, Mexico Mission from 2013-2016. While serving, Brad and Andrea had the opportunity to work with hundreds of talented young adults who came from various cultures and backgrounds to sacrifice eighteen months or two years to serve a full-time mission and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. They saw many of these young people return to their home countries after their missions where opportunities were scarce, and education was difficult to achieve.

The Beginnings

As a result of this experience, the Halls returned to their home in Southeast Idaho and with the help of their children, created The Brad and Andrea Hall Family Foundation. The foundation provides scholarships to international returned missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who have honorably served a full-time mission. The Halls understand that education will open the door of opportunity, which leads to better employment and stability for families.

Opportunities

Current scholarship recipients are online students who have graduated from the PathwayConnect program at BYU-Pathway Worldwide and have been admitted to the online program at BYU-Idaho or Ensign college. These students are working toward certificates and degrees in a variety of subjects. This change in focus from on-campus to online students has allowed the Hall Foundation to serve many more students. The scholarship application is currently available to students that live outside the United States and Canada. ‍

Growth

The Hall Foundation has had the privilege of assisting students all over the world. The foundation has worked with over 300 students from Mexico, Ethiopia, Ghana, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Brazil and many other diverse countries. The first scholarship recipients were given the opportunity to come to the United States to attend on campus at Brigham Young University-Idaho. It has been a great blessing for the Hall family to interact with these students and watch them achieve their educational goals, but the foundation’s focus has now turned to assisting online students. This change has allowed students to stay in their own countries where they can continue to serve in their families, church, and communities. The Hall Foundation is not currently offering on-campus scholarships.

Our Mission

The mission of The Brad and Andrea Hall Family Foundation is to improve the quality of life for returned missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through education.

This is accomplished by providing financial assistance and mentoring to help students become self-reliant leaders in their families, communities, and church.

"Whenever I think about the Hall Foundation and the opportunity given to me to attend BYU-Idaho a scripture found in Luke 12:48 comes to my mind, “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required". I believe it is a great responsibility to make a difference in Mexico, my home country I love so much. Thank you to those who organized and continues to contribute to this scholarship program. It truly turns dreams of education into reality."
